Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single-player, action-adventure game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on November 15, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, with later releases on next-gen consoles. Set in the Star Wars universe, the game takes place five years after the events of "Revenge of the Sith." You play as Cal Kestis, a young Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66 and is now in hiding from the Empire. As a game in the action-adventure genre, Fallen Order incorporates elements familiar to fans of the genre: 1. Metroidvania-style exploration: You'll revisit areas with new abilities to access previously unreachable sections. 2. Souls-like combat: The game features challenging, timing-based combat with a focus on parrying and dodging. 3. Skill tree progression: As you gain experience, you unlock new Force abilities and lightsaber techniques. 4. Puzzle-solving: Environmental puzzles are integrated into the level design. 5. Platform elements: The game includes sections requiring precise jumping and climbing. The game stands out in its genre for its Star Wars setting, allowing players to use Force powers and a lightsaber in combat. It also features a unique meditation system for saving and upgrading, and BD-1, a droid companion that assists in exploration and puzzle-solving. Fallen Order received generally positive reviews, with praise for its story, characters, and combat system, though some criticized its technical issues at launch. It's considered a return to form for single-player Star Wars games after a period focused on multiplayer titles.
